Kierra Brecht, PhD
Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Brecht has called Alaska home for over 20 years. She earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Alaska Anchorage in 2011, followed by a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology in 2013. In 2020, she received her Ph.D. in Clinical-Community Psychology from the same institution.
Her clinical training includes an accredited predoctoral internship at Providence Family Medicine Center (PFMC), where she provided therapy and conducted evaluations to support diagnostic clarity for adults in Anchorage and surrounding communities. She went on to complete her postdoctoral internship at Orion Behavioral Health Network, delivering telehealth services to adults and families across Alaska. Dr. Brecht has been licensed in Alaska since 2021 and is also licensed in Washington State. Her practice emphasizes accessible care for Alaskans.
Dr. Brecht has extensive experience conducting ADHD evaluations for adults and providing evidence-based therapy. Her therapeutic approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy. She has specialized training in Prolonged Exposure Therapy for PTSD and is passionate about brief, evidence-based interventions. Her areas of expertise include trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and specific phobias. Dr. Brecht works with adults of all ages and is dedicated to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges to achieve meaningful and fulfilling lives.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Brecht enjoys baking, cooking, and caring for her indoor and outdoor plants.
